The main reason that Republicans hate the ACA is because it raised taxes on the rich. But they can't go around complaining about that because no one but the rich care. This is why opponents of the law often get mixed up and claim that it increased the deficit, when the opposite is true. To a large extent, Republicans think budgets have only one side. And to them, it's true since they will never agree to raise taxes. And that (like most Republican ideas) is based upon a myth: that Bush Sr lost re-election because he raised taxes. That's clearly not the case.
